See Why This GCA Pair are STARS! Georgia Cyber Academy (GCA)’s Malik Saafir and Denice Delk were recognized as a STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) student and STAR teacher by the PAGE Foundation.

Malik, a 17-year-old senior at GCA, received this recognition by having the highest SAT score in his graduating class and for being in the top 10% of his class. He was grateful to receive the recognition, especially since the award took him by surprise.

“Earning the STAR student recognition felt surreal, because I had no idea I had the highest SAT score in my class,” Malik said. “I was ecstatic!”

Scholastic Student Spotlight: Lambert Senior Class President Focused on Energy Crisis. Cameron Reaves is a senior at Lambert High School in the Atlanta area.

Cameron said, "I plan to study computer science and energy engineering, selecting a minor in Chinese. I plan to focus on solving issues in sustainability and energy, improving the efficiency of existing systems and developing cheaper alternatives to solve our impending energy crisis. Whether as an employee or an entrepreneur, I will make an impact on both how society consumes and produces energy."

SharePoint Crash Course webinar with BDPA Atlanta. On Tuesday, April 3rd at 7pm EST, I’ll be delivering an online webinar for the Atlanta chapter of the BDPA as part of their Tech Talks series. I’ve got 90-minutes to give a crash course to attendees on everything that is the wonderful world of SharePoint – that’s right, from calendars to content types, from lists to libraries, from RBS to BCS.

My intent is do a 60-minute lap around the “wheel”, then wrap up with some live demo of solutions that attendees can do as soon as they get back to their office or friendly-neighborhood VPN. Q&A will also be included.

Keith was an early adopter of LinkedIn, becoming a member well before I joined April 1, 2005.  In the BDPA interview Keith pointed out the benefits of LinkedIn goes far beyond an online resume. So many people turn to LinkedIn when  they are in career transition only. LinkedIn is a powerful tool which can promote your skills, demonstrate creditability and build relationship.

LinkedIn says their official launch date was May 5, 2003 ... Keith Warrick, fellow BDPA LinkedIn group member told us how to find out what member number you are when you joined LinkedIn. Keith was a fairly early adopter of LinkedIn, and member #1,551,555.
