Ahmed Mahamad was a member of the national BDPA High School Computer Competition (HSCC) championship team trained by BDPA Southern Minnesota chapter in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Ahmad entered the University of Minnesota after graduating from high school. He competed in college division of the 2010 BDPA IT Showcase presenting a paper, poster and presentation on Robotics and Bioinformatics in the Healthcare Industry.

Info 101: Where can I find a good career fair? BDPA in Philadelphia! BDPA Philadelphia is hosting a Career Fair as part of their 32nd Annual Technology Conference at the Marriott Downtown in Philadelphia. The Career Fair dates are July 30 and July 31. Career Fair Hours are Friday, July 30th from 12pm to 6pm, and Saturday, July 31st from 10am to 3pm.

Philip Jaurigue, now 51, started Sabre, an engineering- and technology-consulting company, with the help of a home-equity loan, four employees, and a fair amount of gumption - a critical quality for any entrepreneur. Jaurigue plans to discuss his own and his company's growth at the National BDPA Technology Conference that starts Wednesday in Center City, sponsored by a group founded in Philadelphia 35 years ago as the Black Data Processing Associates.

Rochester Post-Bulletin, 7/24/2010 (BDPA Regional Conference)

Community News: Data Processing Students Take First, Third. Teams from Rochester finished in first place and third place at the Black Data Processing Associates Minnesota regional youth competition July 10 at Century High School in Rochester. Teams from Rochester and the Twin Cities took part. The regional is considered a friendly warm-up for the national BDPA competition, which will be in Philadelphia at the end of July.

They are Allstate Insurance, American Airlines, Compuware, Eli Lilly, Health Care Service Corp, IBM, Intel, Merck, Prudential Financial, State Farm Insurance, the U.S. Navy, Wal-Mart Stores, WellPoint and Wells Fargo.

These companies deserve special recognition for promoting a significant number of African Americans into their IT management ranks, and for their outstanding community outreach and minority vendor programs,” says Milt Haynes, a past president of National BDPA.

Top Naval Award for Civilian Leadership presented to Tyrone Taborn. The Publisher, Chairman and CEO of Career Communications Group, Inc., Tyrone Taborn, has been selected to receive the 2010 Charlie Tompkins for Distinguished Civilian Leadership Award from the National Naval Officers Association. Mr. Taborn will receive the award at the 38th NNOA/Association of Naval Services Officers Conference, taking place July 26-30th, 2010 at the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel and Waterfront Conference Center in Portsmouth Virginia. This is the first joint NNOA/ANSO conference. ANSO is the Association of Naval Services Officers created to address the concerns of Hispanic Officers.

BDPA Expects Hefty Crowds in Philadelphia.  'We’re really looking forward to having our meeting in Philadelphia,” says Monique Berry, who is a project manager with the Vanguard Group (Valley Forge, PA) and BDPA’s national president elect and VP of business management. “Sixty percent of the U.S. population is within a twenty-four hour drive so we expect even more people than we had last year in Raleigh.”
