Hicks Named National BDPA President. Wayne Hicks, president of the Cincinnati chapter of Black Data Processing Associates, was named the national president-elect of the association at a ceremony during BDPA's national conference this past weekend. "Part of what got me elected is the belief that what we've done in Cincinnati, we can replicate in other chapters in the United States," he said.

Speaker Got Wired Early. Back in 1964, Ricky Penick jumped at the chance to take the first computer class Roosevelt High School in Gary, Ind., offered. He was one of only a few students because the class was at 7 a.m., before school started."I was a little amateur futurist," he said. "I thought 'Oh, yeah, in the future computers are going to be a big thing.'"
