Meet Gina Billings, BDPA's new president. 'This year's conference will offer more professional development opportunities for our members," says Gina Billings, the new national president of Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA, www.bdpa.org). The organization's twenty-eighth annual convention and career fair will be held at the Hilton LAX in Los Angeles, CA this August 2 to 5.

BDPA's Gold Level Corporate Sponsors. Bank of America, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, and Merck & Company have each donated over $50,000 to the Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA) making them Gold Level Corporate Sponsors. Funding will be used for a variety of programs and services offered by BDPA as well as the national conference.

In Philly in August, BDPA Throws a Swinging Twenty-Fifth. Black Data Processing Associates returned to its roots for its twenty-fifth annual convention and career fair. The organization's first chapter started in 1975 in Philadelphia, PA, and the city was a great backdrop for the 2003 version of BDPA's yearly get-together.

Group Trains Teens in Technology Skills. The Cincinnati chapter of the Black Data Processing Association (BDPA) has in recent years run programs training teens interested in computers or technology. Called the Student Information Technology Education & Scholarship Program, or SITES, the program consists of a computer camp, a youth technology seminar series and the formation of a team for the National Computer Competition.

Wayne Hicks, president of the Cincinnati chapter of Black Data Processing Associates, was named the national president-elect of the association at a ceremony during BDPA's national conference this past weekend. "Part of what got me elected is the belief that what we've done in Cincinnati, we can replicate in other chapters in the United States," he said.
