Mr. Brown has over thirty years of consulting experience in the areas of diversity and inclusion, team-building, leadership development, strategic planning and executive coaching. He also leads the innovation, intellectual property and new product development components for the company. In addition, he co-authored a book, The Phoenix Principles: Leveraging Inclusion the Transform Your Company and several others. Brown will address the theme ‘Transformation of the IT Professional’.

Wayne Hicks leaving Cincinnati Business Incubator. Cincinnati Business Incubator President and CEO Wayne Hicks said Monday he's leaving the incubator to "take on my next great challenge." Hicks, in an e-mail, said he'll continue his work as executive director of the BDPA Education and Technology Foundation, an arm of the BDPA (Black Data Professionals Associates) trade group, and continue his consulting business, focusing on helping nonprofits and small businesses grow via better marketing.

BDPA trains minority students for competitive programming. Lots of people have spent hours camped in front of the TV in recent weeks, watching young people compete in the Olympic Games. Far fewer would take an interest in the mental gymnastics involved in a computer programming competition, or appreciate the training it takes to excel in that intellectual "sport."

The Circuit, formerly Greater Cincinnati Software Association, is contributing to BDPA's Student Information Technology Education & Scholarship (SITES) program -- which includes a high school-level computer camp, technology seminars and participation in a national BDPA student competition. Acting on the premise that African-American teenagers don't get enough exposure to computers, the local chapter of Black Data Processing Associates has taken matters into its own hands. The group is sponsoring a 12-week high school computer camp for minority students that will culminate in a regional competition at Bowling Green State University June 12.

Black Info Tech Group Boosts Computer Legacy. The new year will mark a new beginning for an area information technology organization. Wayne Hicks, director of the Covington Internal Revenue Service Center, is leading the revival of the Cincinnati chapter of Black Data Processing Associates Information Technology Thought Leaders. The group's mission: to help Cincinnatians interested in staying on the cutting edge of information technology and promoting the industry among the African American community.

"The fear is that if we don't do all that we can do to embrace information technology that we will miss that revolution and not be a part of it," Hicks said.
