‘Now IT is Getting Love Letters': How a Company Culture Celebrating Tech Pays Off. When Larry Quinlan, global CIO at Deloitte LLP, took over his post, he freely admits that everyone hated IT.

“Now,” he said, “IT is getting love letters.”

So what changed? The company culture, that’s what. Mr. Quinlan said that what had to be done was build a culture that celebrates technology, so people would change their attitudes towards the technology organization.

During a keynote address at the Interop conference in Las Vegas, he talked attendees through the journey towards an IT culture at Deloitte.

“I’m in the people business,” he said, “and that’s my context.”

Given that context, the fact that many people would rather have a root canal than deal with IT bothers him. A lot. Not only because people are his context, but because if nobody wants to deal with you, you’ll never get a seat at the boardroom table.

Consortium for Enterprise Systems Management Scholarship $2,000 for STEM-related degree in the Carolinas.  BDPA Education and Technology Foundation (BETF) and the Consortium for Enterprise Systems Management (CESM) are proud to announce the first annual CESM Scholarship for BDPA Students. One rising high school senior will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship to pursue a college degree focused on information technology.

American Honda Foundation awards $25,000 to BDPA Education and Technology Foundation.  American Honda Foundation awarded a $25,000 grant to the BDPA Education and Technology Foundation (BETF), a nonprofit organization led by racially diverse CEOs and executive level management who promote educational programs for students of color in the information technology industry.

BDPA Education and Technology Foundation (BETF), a nonprofit organization made up of racially diverse CEOs and executive level management who promote educational programs for students of color in the information technology industry, announced new officers and members of its board of directors. BETF members re-elected Earl A. Pace, Jr., President/CEO for Pace Data Systems as the new board chairman. John Eckenrode, CEO for CPSI Inc. elected to serve as the board secretary. Ron Branch, President/CEO for Silverback Business Group was elected as a new board member.

Norwalk Teens have 'Breakfast with Champions' at Carver Center. Athletes, writers, sports trainers and other professionals gave teens advice Saturday on how to become what they want to be when they grow up. Lydia Barron, chief information officer for JNet Communications, told those in attendance points to remember when trying to get a job or a raise. She said small things -- such as making eye contact with a prospective and dressing well to an interview -- could make a world of difference.

Wayne Hicks leaving Cincinnati Business Incubator. Cincinnati Business Incubator President and CEO Wayne Hicks said Monday he's leaving the incubator to "take on my next great challenge." Hicks, in an e-mail, said he'll continue his work as executive director of the BDPA Education and Technology Foundation, an arm of the BDPA (Black Data Professionals Associates) trade group, and continue his consulting business, focusing on helping nonprofits and small businesses grow via better marketing.
